वाल्मीकि रामायण और एमचरितमानस भारतीय साहित्य के दो बहुमूल्य रत्न हैं। दोनो के रचना बात मे महनाधिक वर्षों का व्यवधान है तथापि आदि कवि ने जिस भव्य काय-परम्परा का श्रीगणेश किया उसे मानसकार ने एक नूतन उत्कर्ष प्रदान किया है। मानस के कवि ने पूर्ववर्ती साहित्य का प्राभार स्पष्ट शब्दो मे स्वीकार किया है और वाल्मीकि के प्रति विशेष रूप से सम्मान व्यक्त किया है इसके साथ ही मानम में पूर्व परम्परा मे उसकी भिन्नता की मोर भी स्पष्ट समेत मिलता है । रामचरितमानस को पूर्ववर्ती रामकान्य-परम्परा के परिप्रेक्ष्य में रख कर देखने से यह बात स्पष्ट हो जाती है कि मानस का कवि वाल्मीकि गमायण के प्रति सर्वाधिक सवेदनशील रहा है। मानस को क्या-विवृति, चरित्र प्रस्तुति, सावेगिक उद्दीप्ति मौर दिल्प विधि में उसके मध्येता को कभी सादृश्य-रूप मे तो कभी प्रतिक्रिया स्प मे वाल्मीकि रामायण की भलक व्यापक रूप से मिलती है-कही वह वाल्मीकि की अनुसृष्टि प्रतीत होती है तो कही प्रतिष्टि, फिर भी समग्रत उसको छाप रामायण से बहुत भिन्न मोर स्वतत्र रूप मे अक्ति होती है।
Valmiki Ramayana and Amacharitamanas are two precious gems of Indian literature. There is a disruption of the composition of both of them for many years, however, the grand work-tradition that the Adi poet started, Manasakar has given him a new height. The poet of Manas has accepted the charge of the preceding literature in clear terms and has expressed special respect for Valmiki, as well as the peacock of his differences in the former tradition in Manam is also clearly found. By looking at Ramcharitmanas in the perspective of the earlier Ramakanya-tradition, it becomes clear that Valmiki, the poet of Manas, has been the most responsive to Gamayana. What does Manas get in detail, character presentation, emotional illumination and his method in analogy, sometimes in the form of an analogy, sometimes in response, and there is widespread devotion to Valmiki Ramayana – if it seems to be Valmiki’s response, then some response, Yet overall, he has a different form of a peacock than Ramayana.
