‘एक साथ रहनेवाले दो पक्षी एकही वृक्ष (शरीर)का आश्रय लेकर रहते हैं। उनमेंसे एक तो उस वृक्षके कर्मरूप फलोंका स्वाद ले-लेकर उपभोग करता है, किंतु दूसरा उस वृक्षके फलका उपभोग न करता हुआ केवल देखता रहता है। _ ‘छन्द, यज्ञ, क्रतु तथा भूत, वर्तमान और सम्पूर्ण विश्वको वह मायावी रचता है और मायासे ही उसमें प्रविष्ट होकर रहता है। प्रकृतिको ही माया समझना चाहिये और महेश्वर ही वह मायावी है।’ … ‘वे ही परमेश्वर तीनों कालोंसे परे, निष्कल, सर्वज्ञ, त्रिगुणाधीश्वर एवं साक्षात् परात्पर ब्रह्म हैं । सम्पूर्ण विश्व उन्हींका रूप है। वे सबकी उत्पत्तिके कारण होकर भी स्वयं अजन्मा हैं, स्तुतिके योग्य हैं, प्रजाओंके पालक, देवताओंके भी देवता और सम्पूर्ण जगत्के लिये पूजनीय हैं। अपने हृदयमें विराजमान उन परमेश्वरकी हम उपासना करते हैं । जो काल आदिसे परे हैं, जिनसे यह समस्त प्रपश्च प्रकट होता है, जो धर्मके पालक, पापके नाशक, भोगोंके स्वामी तथा सम्पूर्ण विश्वके धाम हैं, जो ईश्वरोंके भी परम महेश्वर, देवताओंके भी परम देवता तथा पतियोंके भी परम पति हैं, उन भुवनेश्वरोंके भी ईश्वर महादेवको हम सबसे परे जानते हैं । उनके शरीररूप कार्य और इन्द्रिय तथा मनरूपी करण नहीं हैं। उनके समान और उनसे अधिक भी इस जगत में कोई नहीं दिखायी देता । ज्ञान, बल और क्रियारूप उनकी खाभाविक पराशक्ति वेदोंमें नाना प्रकारकी सुनी गयी है। उन्हीं शक्तियोंसे इस सम्पूर्ण विश्वकी रचना हुई है।
