श्रीचरकसंहिता आयुर्वेद में एक सर्वमान्य पुस्तक है। इसका पठन पाठन पायर्वेद के विद्यार्थि के लिये अति आवश्यक है। वास्तबमें चरकसंहिता का तथा दूसरे अन्यों का स्पष्टीकरण जितना पदाने में होता है, उतना पढ़ने के समय नहीं होता। यही कारण है कि आयुवेद सम्प्रदाय के मुख्य आचार्य श्री गंगाधर जी कविराज, श्री योगीन्द्रनाथ सेन जी श्रीचरकसंहिता पर जल्पकल्पतरू और चरकोपस्कार टीकायें लिखकर आयुर्वेद के प्रेमियों का बहुत उपकार किया । इनमें चरकोपस्कारभाष्य तो विद्यार्थियों के लिये बहुत ही उत्तम और लाभ दायक है। पढ़ते ममय विद्यार्थी की मनोवृत्ति बहुत ही विचित्र रहती है; खास पर आजकल के आयुर्वेद कोलज की जीवन में; जब कि उसको पाश्चात्य विद्या भी सत्तर प्रतिशत सीखनी होती है। ऐसी अवस्था में तो वह उत्तीर्ण, होकर उपाधि ही प्राप्त करने का इकटुक रहता है। इसमें कोई दो चार अपवाद भी होते हैं। यह वृत्ति हमारे यहां ही हो-यह बात नहीं; पाश्चात्य देशों में भी इसका-मनुष्य धर्म के स्वभाव के अनुसार परिचय मिलता है ।
